The Toombs-Montgomery Chamber of Commerce announced a rebranding effort and changed the name to Greater Vidalia® Chamber at the 2021 Annual Meeting on March 18, 2021, at Hawks Point in Vidalia, Georgia. 
 

In 2019, Southeastern Early College and Career Academy (SECCA) began offering the Energy Pathway to high school students from Montgomery, Toombs, Treutlen and Vidalia City school systems. The Energy: Generation, Transmission, and Distribution pathway is a CTAE career pathway of the Georgia Department of Education. Locally, the course is taught by Dr. Kip Hart. The first group of students to finish the 3 required courses have recently tested for their end of pathway certification.

The Toombs County Development Authority seeks to create a workforce development strategy for the community.  The availability of a skilled workforce is a key ingredient for attracting new jobs and supporting existing businesses.  The workforce strategy will also help the community navigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  This effort will create a roadmap for workforce development efforts in Toombs County.  Specifically, the strategy process will identify gaps, develop priorities, create strategies for meeting the talent needs of existing industry and prospective employers, set workfor

The Toombs County Development Authority recently accepted proposals for the design-build of a new spec building to be located at Toombs Corporate Center at U.S. Highway 1, Lyons.  Dublin Construction Company was awarded the project at the Authority’s regular monthly meeting on September 17, 2020.  Construction will be completed in early 2021.

The City of Lyons has been ranked #18 of the Top 50 Safest Cities in Georgia by Safe Wise. The organization utilizes statistical information gathered by the FBI, and ranks cities in each state across the country. In Georgia 127 cities were considered for placement.

Robin Builders recently worked with Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP) to plan for the recently announced large plant relocation/expansion project and increased workforce.
