The City of Lyons has been ranked #18 of the Top 50 Safest Cities in Georgia by Safe Wise. The organization utilizes statistical information gathered by the FBI, and ranks cities in each state across the country. In Georgia 127 cities were considered for placement.

Robin Builders recently worked with Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP) to plan for the recently announced large plant relocation/expansion project and increased workforce.

Chicken of the Sea Georgia recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first domestic cannery operation in Toombs County.  The plant opened in 2009 after the American Samoa plant was closed to make the move to Toombs Corporate Center, Lyons, Georgia.

The Southeast Early College and Career Academy (SECCA) in Vidalia partnered with Southern Nuclear to host a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Camp for 20 area middle school and high school students.
