The Toombs County Board of Commissioners, in conjunction with the Cities of Lyons, Santa Claus, and Vidalia, is initiating a process to update the current countywide join comprehensive plan, in accordance with Georgia law. While this plan is necessary to maintain local government eligibility for state grants, loans, and permits, it is also an important blueprint for addressing local concerns and establishing a guide for community growth and development. The assistance and involvement of the entire community is needed, both public and private sectors.
Key stakeholders and involved citizens are invited and encouraged to participate on the new Toombs County Local Plan Coordination Committee which will help update and develop the new joint comprehensive plan. The first meeting of this committee will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.. and is to be located in the Vidalia Municipal Annex, Council Board Room: 302 East First Street, Suite C, Vidalia, Georgia.
The plan development process will involve about five (5) meetings of the committee over the next few months. Each meeting will last approximate 1.5 hours.
