TCDA Hosts "Crafting Community Incentives" Workshop


The Toombs County Development Authority hosted a “Crafting Community Incentives” workshop on Monday, March 21st.  The workshop included a Return on Incentives presentation provided by Jim Lovett, Regional Project Manager, Georgia Power, and a panel discussion with state partners moderated by Jenny Robbins, Community and Economic Development Consultant, Georgia EMC, on behalf of Altamaha EMC.  Panel participants included (seated up front, L-R) Brenda Macoy, CPRW, Regional Coordinator, Region 9, Georgia Department of Labor; Lynn Ashcraft, Region 9 Representative, Georgia Department of Community Affairs; Ryan Waldrep, CEcD, EDFP, Assistant Director, Entrepreneur & Small Business, Regional Project Manager, Georgia Department of Economic Development; Jim Lovett, Regional Project Manager, Georgia Power and Bill Mitchell, Executive Director, Toombs County Development Authority.  There was outstanding participation from local leadership with representatives of the Authority, Chamber, Commissioners, City Councils, Tax Assessor, Tax Commissioner, educational system and utilities in attendance.  Discussion included best practices of prospect development; working with prospects, consultants, state & regional economic development partners; measuring incentives; trends in economic development, etc.
