The month of May is graduation season, the time when things are in bloom, and summer is right around the corner. This month celebrates Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and more. May is also Small Business Month in Georgia, when we pay a special tribute to small businesses, honoring them for their courage, community efforts, and hard work. Representing 99.8% of all Georgia businesses, they are the backbone of our economy.
These small businesses are integral to Georgia's logistics industry, made up of more than 15,000 logistics establishments of all sizes that help power Georgia’s supply chain networks, which are further bolstered by larger companies with Georgia-based headquarters. These include Americold, Delta Air Lines, GreyOrange, The Home Depot, and UPS, which also benefit from Georgia’s 20,000 miles of federal and state highways, including two major transcontinental highways, in addition to two Class 1 railroads and 24 short lines that together move almost 200 million tons of cargo over 5,000 miles of rail each year.
The Georgia Center of Innovation – Logistics is here to help, linking companies to the state’s world-class logistics industry to improve supply chain efficiencies, support growth, and increase global competitiveness.
