British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standards is a leading brand and consumer protection organization, used by over 25,000 certified suppliers in 130 countries, with certification issued through a worldwide network of accredited Certification Bodies. The Standards guarantee the standardization of quality, safety and operational criteria and ensure that manufacturers fulfill their legal obligations and provide protection for the end consumer. BRC Global Standards are a fundamental requirement of leading retailers, manufacturers and food service organizations.
BRC requires an annual inspection of the facility which covers all aspects of the plant operations, from production and storage to food safety and quality systems to employee training. Chicken of the Sea's most recent audit resulted in a rating of "AA", the highest standard achievable by BRC. The local facility celebrated the achievement on June 6, 2017, with an employee luncheon.
