August 8, 2016 – Southeastern Technical College and the University of Georgia don’t often have a lot in common, but a recent ranking by the BestColleges organization named both of these colleges first in the two year and four year college categories. Although this was not the first national award for Southeastern Technical College, it was the first time being named Best Two-Year College in the state of Georgia by BestColleges.com.
BestColleges.com is a nationally recognized provider of college planning resources. They routinely rank the top colleges around the nation based on multiple factors to help students decide where they want to go to college. This year, STC landed in the top spot.
In announcing STC as the Top Two-Year College in Georgia for 2016, the organization stated “This Vidalia school offers lower in-state and out-of-state tuition rates than any other institution in the top 25 list. Besides granting two-year degrees and certifications, STC also has a well-known continuing education and economic development program designed to offer business and industry training opportunities to its service areas.”
Some of the elements considered for the ranking included affordability, enrollment, graduation rates, and other student-centric factors. All of the data is weighed and assessed when creating the list. In total, nine of the Top 10 Two-Year Colleges were members of the Technical College System of Georgia (TSCG).
